Peach Sunset Memory Earrings with Violet Shimmer and Bubbling Sea

A memory wanted to come out, so these went somewhere by the sea: a peach sunset, a black sun deepened with a violet shimmer, and a lot of sparkle that only shows itself when light touches it.

Pink bubbles are stamped in — over a hundred times, one small press at a time — mimicking sea foam catching an orange-yellow sky. It's slow work, but sunsets are slow too, and I love watching time do its magic that way. I love stamping more than I ever expected to, back when I ordered my first silicone stamp.

Somewhere in the middle of stamping, I realized the whole thing feels like a memory I brought home from a holiday by the sea — not a souvenir of it, nothing literal. The sunset, the reflections, the bubbling water just ended up in the piece naturally, as if the place changed how I made the object without my ever deciding that on purpose — a pleasant memory that simply wanted to exist in physical form.

It's a slow trade between adding color and waiting for it to dry — another layer, another wait, then stamping and drying again — like me on vacation: swimming, drying, then swimming again.
