Let Them Eat Pie – Lattice Pie Earrings

Marie Antoinette supposedly said people without bread should eat cake. She probably never actually said it — but I like the delusion of it anyway, so here's my version: if you can't afford bread, learn how to make a pie.

It's not really a joke. Fruit costs about the same as bread does. A pie takes maybe four times that — and it's more nutritious than bread will ever be, maybe with a bit less sugar too. I know this because I studied horticulture, and because I'm actually baking them.

This stud is a tiny lattice-crust pie, painted the color of something that just came out of the oven. Small, absurd, a little defiant — same as the idea it's named after.

You're not buying a pie. You're buying the moment someone decided bread wasn't the only option.
